About your Tesla
Tesla Motors, founded in 2003 by a group of engineers including Elon Musk, has transformed from a niche startup to a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing. The company’s journey began with the Roadster in 2008, which proved electric cars could be both powerful and desirable.
The introduction of the Model S in 2012 marked Tesla’s breakthrough into the mainstream market. This luxury saloon combined impressive performance with cutting-edge technology, featuring over-the-air updates and a revolutionary touchscreen interface. The Model X followed in 2015, bringing Tesla’s innovation to the SUV segment with its distinctive falcon-wing doors.
In 2017, Tesla democratised electric mobility with the more affordable Model 3, which quickly became the world’s best-selling electric car. The Model Y crossover completed Tesla’s initial “S3XY” lineup in 2020, combining the practicality of an SUV with the efficiency of a smaller vehicle.
Today’s Tesla vehicles typically offer impressive ranges between 250-375 miles per full charge, depending on the model and battery configuration. Their advanced lithium-ion battery packs are engineered to last approximately 300,000-500,000 miles or 15-20 years before requiring replacement—significantly outlasting traditional combustion engines.
Choosing an EV like a Tesla provides numerous advantages: lower running costs (approximately 60% cheaper per mile than petrol), overnight charging at home, minimal maintenance requirements with fewer moving parts, and zero emissions. Tesla owners also benefit from access to the extensive Tesla Supercharger fast charging network across the UK. Using Tesla’s supercharger network you can recharge up to 175 miles in 15 minutes.
For those considering a used Tesla, an extended warranty for your EV provides crucial peace of mind. With complex technology, battery systems and mechanical parts (such as suspension, brakes and steering) having protection against unexpected repair requests ensures you can drive confidently everywhere, every day.
Here at Warrantywise, we regularly review our EV warranty plans to ensure they’re the best in the market for price and value.
*Extended warranty ‘Price From’ example based on a Tesla Model X registered in December 2020. Total cost of 12-month warranty plan: £641.26. (December 2024)
