Warrantywise, the UK’s leading used car warranty provider, announces the appointment of Wayne Duxbury as Dealer Sales Director, effective immediately. Returning to Warrantywise in this strategic position, Duxbury will leverage his experience and oversee all aspects of dealer operations including customer relations and key partnerships in his new role.
Duxbury returns to Warrantywise, where he began his career, bringing with him extensive experience gained in the automotive industry. He initially joined Warrantywise as a Dealer Account Manager and quickly advanced to the position of Field Sales Manager. Duxbury then further honed his skills at Momentum Warranties, serving as Regional Manager and Sales Director, where he led high-performance sales teams and drove business development. His return comes at a time when Warrantywise has expanded its local workforce to over 130 employees, significantly contributing to the local Blackburn economy, and is looking to the future with continued growth and innovation.
Duxbury’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Warrantywise as the automotive market undergoes substantial shifts. While the used car market recorded its best start to a year since pre-pandemic 2019, hitting a five-year high in May 2024 – rising by 6.5 per cent, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), yet car dealers see a softening in prices they can achieve due to the push of new vehicle sales.
This means that there are significant opportunities for dealers to enhance their revenue streams. Duxbury’s vision includes filling the gap left by traditional GAP insurance by empowering dealers with the tools and knowledge to provide comprehensive warranty plans effectively. The first customer-facing tool Duxbury has launched is a car detailing kit called WiseShine, designed to help boost warranty sales. For instance, dealers can offer a complimentary WiseShine kit with their extended warranty purchase.
“Warrantywise has grown and evolved significantly over the past few years, and it’s great to be back. I’m focused on ensuring we build a strong foundation for sustained growth as we continue to navigate such a pivotal time,” said Wayne Duxbury, Dealer Sales Director of Warrantywise. “Understanding the needs and expectations of our [dealers is paramount, and the journey begins with the first call, where setting clear and achievable expectations is key. My focus will be on fostering innovation and collaboration within our team to meet and exceed these expectations as we continue to grow.”
“Despite the volatility in the automotive market, signs are positive for 2024 with potential for growth and innovation within Warrantywise,” says Lawrence Whittaker, CEO of Warrantywise. “The broader market trends, including the rise in used car transactions and the growing demand for EVs, present unique opportunities for us to innovate and expand our offerings. Welcoming Wayne [Duxbury] back as Dealer Sales Director underscores our commitment to strategic growth, and his deep industry relationships and extensive experience are invaluable assets that will undoubtedly strengthen our dealer operations. Our growth is not just in numbers but in our expanding team and the innovative solutions we provide. We are proud to have him back on the team and look forward to the positive impact he will make.”
Warrantywise is poised for a successful year, with a clear focus on stability, growth, and maximising dealer opportunities in a dynamic market. With 24 years of industry experience, Warrantywise is dedicated to transparency, expertise, and providing dependable warranty plans, along with valuable consumer insights into the used car market.
